d’Arenberg The Love Grass Shiraz

The Love Grass Shiraz

(McLaren Vale, Australia)

On Bottle/Website:

* Sweet purple plums and rich dark licorice

* Musk and violets

* Indian spices and freshly turned earth

* Cooked rhubarb

* Cured meat and black olive

* Chalky tannins, long mineral finish

* Bright purple fruits, dark layer of black olive and black pepper

* Cinnamon, bay leaf and nutmeg

* 14.5% alcohol

My Notes:

* Appearance: clear, ruby, high viscosity

* Nose: blackberry, jammy fruits, eucalyptus, grill char, cinnamon, vanilla (wood spice)

* Palate: blackberry, boysenberry, raspberry, confirms medicinal, rose potpourri, confirms spices/tasting of barrels, high alcohol, medium acidity, medium plus tannins, medium finish

After researching the area in Australia that this wine was produced, I was excited to see that there is a beach named after me in the area of McLaren Vale!  I like this wine a bit more now.
